This Privacy Policy explains what information YoMeal ("YoMeal", "the app", "we", "us") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. YoMeal is an AI-assisted nutrition tracking app. There is no traditional account or login — the app does not collect your name, email address, or password.
When you first open the app, it generates a random unique identifier (a UUID) on your device. This identifier — not your name or email — is used to associate your logged meals, profile, and subscription status with your device. It is stored locally on your device and sent to our servers with each request.
You may optionally provide your gender, birthday, height, weight, fitness goal, and activity level so the app can calculate a personalized daily calorie and macronutrient target. This is entirely optional — the app works without it.
When you log a meal (by typing or via speech-to-text on your device), the resulting text is sent to our servers to identify the food items you described. We store the meal description, the identified food items, and the calculated nutrition values (calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat) against your anonymous identifier. If you are a premium subscriber, we may also generate a short AI-written comment about your meal and daily progress, which is stored alongside that meal.
If you purchase a premium subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play — we never see or store your payment details (card numbers, billing address, etc.). Our subscription management provider, RevenueCat, notifies us of your subscription status (active, expired, cancelled), the product purchased, and the relevant dates, which we associate with your anonymous identifier to determine your access level.
Your device's timezone may be sent to our servers so that daily limits and meal history reset at midnight in your local time rather than a server-fixed timezone.
We keep basic internal logs of how the AI features are used (for example, how many requests were made and when) to monitor performance, cost, and reliability. This data is tied to your anonymous identifier, not to any personally identifying information.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising, and we do not sell your information.
To provide the app's functionality, certain data is shared with the following service providers, solely for the purposes described below:

We retain your data for as long as your anonymous identifier remains active on your device, or until you request deletion (see below).
Because the app does not use accounts, we identify your data solely by the anonymous identifier generated on your device. To request access to, or deletion of, the data associated with your identifier, contact us at the email address below. Please note that if you delete the app or its local data without contacting us, we may not be able to identify which stored data belongs to you, since we hold no name or email to match it against.
YoMeal is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can remove it.
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we store. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
